(Keep in mind that you can join us in any of these activities, even
if you don't know much about them!)
Praying together as much as possible.

what Notre Dame and Saint Mary's students are saying about Eucharistic
Adoration, go to the ND
Adoration website.
-

(this is not run by Children of Mary, but we like to go anyways!!!)
-
12:00 P.M. - 4:45 P.M. on Fridays in the Basilica. The special intention
for this period of adoration is Respect for all Life.
Reaching out to our brothers and sisters in Christ.
-
On Saturday mornings we help out a local woman, Dolly Donahue, who takes
in children and young mothers. This is incredibly enjoyable and a
good break from studies. We collect food for her and those she cares
for, so feel free to contribute as you can (Grab-in-Go items are perfect).
-
Praying the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy for our youngest brothers
and sisters in Christ who are in danger of being aborted and also praying
for their family, friends, and those that may bring about their death.
We leave for the abortion clinic at 8 A.M. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and
Fridays from the library circle and return in time for 9:30 classes.
-
Spreading the messages of Our Lady of Medjgorje. This includes table
tents in the dining halls.
Participating in retreats.
-
On the silent retreat we spend a weekend listening to talks given by an
awesome speaker and listening to God in the quiet of our hearts.
-
The Upon this Rock retreat is a great oppurtunity to grow deeper in your
Catholic faith.
-
Also, the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration often invite any ladies
that are interested to participate in full-blown retreats and shorter evenings
of reflection.
Doing other fun activities.
-
Heart of Mary is an informal group of ladies which gathers weekly to share
with each other the joys and difficulties of their walk with Jesus and
Mary. We meet at 5:00 P.M. in 435 Lewis Hall, Carolyn's room.
We often go to dinner together and then catch the end of adoration which
lasts until 8:00 P.M.
-
On Friday and/or Saturday nights we often will get together to watch a
movie, go to a cafe, play frisbee, or something else fun. And, of
course, we love to dine together!
-
Members of the group take road-trips to the Franciscan University of Steubenville,
OH, particularly for the Festival of Praise.
-
We actually also have a library! It's on the third floor of LaFortune...
take a double right as you enter room 315 and you will see the shelf full
of stuff. Some of the materials are free to be taken home forever
and the others are lent out on the "honor system." Please check it
out. There's holy cards, videos, awesome books, casette tapes, and
more!
Knights of the Immaculata
Many Children of Mary are also members of the KNIGHTS OF THE IMMACULATA
which is a student organization at Notre Dame/Saint Mary's. This
group is part of the international organization devoted to the intellectual
pursuit for greater union with Christ through Mary. We meet every
Sunday at 4:30 in LaFortune to study great works such as Redemptoris
Mater, an encyclical by Pope John Paul II, True Devotion to Mary,
an awesome book by St. Louis de Montfort, or St. Francis de Sales'sIntroduction
to the Devout Life. The goal of the group is to make a “Consecration
of oneself to Jesus Christ, Wisdom incarnate, through the Hands of Mary”
according to St. Louis de Montfort. Don't worry if you have never
been to a meeting before, or if you don't have a chance to read the material
that we will be discussing; because we are discussing something which is
natural to all Catholics--devotion to Our Blessed Mother. Call Monica Mata
(634-2872) or email her at smata@nd.edu
if you would like more information.
