Thurston Miller
Employee Recognition Winner 2002
The next honoree is a person of tremendous patience and precision.
Asked to assume responsibility for a complex project in an area
fraught with high costs, complex calculations, wild passions,
and conflicting needs, this individual led others by building
new expertise.
Gathering information, this planner created dozens of charts
offering clear presentations of alternative solutions. Opinions
were solicited and examined. Responses were well considered
and fully documented.
The work of his group and his presentation of the data was so
thorough and compelling that University administrators were
persuaded to adopt library recommendations that cost more than
the University’s initial choice.
For his calm leadership, research, and documentation
as chair of the Library’s Moveable Shelving Working Group,
we honor Thurston Miller.
