PERFORMANCE RECOGNITION AWARDS
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS We will be conducting nominations in the same manner as last year. There will be two categories – individual employees and groups. Please note that any library employee -- supervisor, co-worker, staff, faculty, colleague -- may submit a nomination. No form is required, though one is available for your convenience on the Performance Recognition Awards website at: http://www.nd.edu/~libstaff/recognition/index.shtml Or, if you prefer to work offline, you can also send a brief note to Diane Kennedy, @ Library Annual Performance Awards Committee (116 Hesburgh Library or Kennedy.75@nd.edu), by December 5, 2003. For individual nominees, the letter should name the nominee, the nominee’s department or unit, and describe the reason for the nomination. For group nominations, it is important to list all members of the group. To help the reviewers evaluate the nomination, please offer some examples that illustrate the excellence of performance for which the individual or group is being nominated. The guidelines for nomination are: · All individual library and staff are eligible for these awards except for individuals currently under corrective action. · Any employee may nominate any other employee, but no employee should nominate more than two individuals and two groups. · No individual may win an individual award in two consecutive years, but a person can win and be part of a winning group at any time. This means that an individual may win an individual award in the same year that he/she is honored as part of a group or in the year preceding or following the group award. · Group awards are for any formal or informal team of two or more people who worked on a common project or who achieved a shared accomplishment. Groups may include official committees, working groups, and teams (including those with non-library members), units, and unofficial groups of individuals who have worked together on a specific project or on resolving a recognized problem. This year, we will not notify nominees before the ceremony. If you do not want to be considered for an award, please notify Jo Bessler by December 5 and your wishes will be honored. Nominations will be reviewed by a committee composed of one member of LEC (Jo Bessler), and last year’s individual award winners (Mark Dehmlow, Melodie Eiteljorge, Diana Kennedy, and Thurston Miller). Last, individuals are welcome to submit announcements about their own extramural accomplishments – such as new degrees, publications, starring roles, and non-work related awards or those of a colleague. Every year, many individuals throughout the University Libraries
make heroic efforts to streamline operations, master new technologies,
and to enhance services. Some contributions are easily noted and
appreciated by the public. Others can only be fully understood in
the same unit possessing similar expertise. I encourage each of
you to alert the Review Committee to the individual achievements
that you have seen this year and to help us acknowledge these outstanding
accomplishments. |
