The Rested Voyagers Begin To See Their Goal.
Coming back from break, we had planned to plate silver onto copper. Power requirements dictated a small cathode and anode, so our reaction lent itself to plating pennies (copper). We even considered drilling holes in the pennies to make cool silver medallions. Unfortunately, the chemicals turned out to be very expensive and very dangerous. Our next plan was to plate copper onto zinc. We acquired the chemicals necessary, as well as the copper. We ordered zinc plates from a place in Seattle, and expect them in the mail by Saturday.
The first draft of the report was also finished. The report was somewhat sketchy because of the fact that we have yet to plate anything. Included in the first draft was a technical appendix dealing with gear reduction and a technical appendix dealing with the chemistry. We were unable to include a safety appendix due to the fact we did not acquire the chemicals until Friday. There will be much rewriting next week!!
Both the delivery vehicle and its support structure were built. We still need to devise a rack to set the zinc plate on. This will not be a trivial problem.
