Lego Wiggler Vehicle (Bottom View)
This is the underside of the Lego Wiggler Vehicle.
The central joint/pivot can be seen quite clearly, and the basic
structure of the front and back halves (which are essentially
mirror images). The rear part of the vehicle extends a slight
bit further backward, to accommodate the axle-ends which gives
wheels one-directional motion. There is a single axle which
connects from the Lego 9 Volt Micromotor offset shaft to the right
rear corner of the front half. This is what creates the wiggling
motion, the
locked pivot in the center of this rod is for slight adjustments in length.
If the axle needs to be a slight bit shorter, a slight angle can be placed in this joint, allowing for a slightly shorter connection which allows for a different geometry of motion. Shortening the push-pull rod would result in the vehicle have more of a
right-turning instinct, and less left-turn. This would make the vehicle do a slow turn to the right, where extending the length of the push-pull rod would have the opposite effect, turning the vehicle to the left. This is the basic mechanism needed for
some sort of steering system.
