If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.
- Ernest Hemingway

The best of America drifts to Paris. The American in Paris is the best American. It is more fun for an intelligent person to live in an intelligent country. France has the only two things toward which we drift as we grow older - intelligence and good manners.
- F. Scott Fitzgerald

The more English is heard in the world, the more gratifying it seems to speak French, and above all to know the culture of our country. They find a kind of French social grace in the language and culture.
- Bernard Pivot

Bienvenue
Notre Dame's French club, Le Cercle Français, welcomes all members of the Notre Dame community to come together in appreciation of the rich language and culture of France and Francophone countries.

We will be hosting or sponsoring a variety of events throughout the year including monthly Table Française meals in the dining halls, movie watches, French masses, crêpe parties, information sessions on study and internship opportunities abroad, and an annual trip to Chicago in the spring. We also aim to promote related campus events such as film screenings at the DeBartolo Center for the Performing Arts and academic conferences or lectures.

Upcoming Events
Ne soyez pas timide ! Nous accueillons tout le monde, et nous espérons vous voir souvent !

  • Chicago Trip
    Friday, April 18, 2008
Thanks to everyone who has expressed interest in the trip to Chicago! šWe have
finalized our plans and they are as follows: šleave campus at 2.30pm outside McKenna Hall

(no stragglers, please!) to arrive around 3.30pm (Central time! Chicago is an hour
behind -- we are not going to be driving that fast.) šThe bus will drop us off
at the Art Institute of Chicago, where we will have a 4pm gallery tour of the
French Impressionist paintings, followed by dinner at Cyrano's Bistrot,
reservations at 5.30pm sharp. šThe menu is set and will include a choice
between coq au vin and grilled salmon as the entrees, with appetizers/salad to
begin and dessert, bien sur, to follow. šWe will leave from the restaurant
around 7pm to arrive back on campus at 10pm.

Thanks to the generosity of the Nanovic, the entire trip will cost you only $15.
Please send us an email confirming if you will be able to go by Sunday (04/06/08) at noon
at the latest, s'il vous plait, as we have to confirm our reservation with the
    Art Institute.
