Flip camcorders

These are small, inexpensive, easy-to-use cameras for recording digital video. Some models use AA batteries and the camera features a pop-out USB connector, with no need for a cable. The Flip has automatic sound level control and records in mono. It is also easy to use, with very few buttons. The included software allows direct upload to YouTube. Note that Flip is a brand of camcorder and other devices have similar capabilities.

Use in teaching & learning

A Flip camera can be used to document project work, take field "notes," film a class activity, record a special event, or capture a speaker, to name a few possibilities. The video can then be uploaded to YouTube and made accessible through Concourse.

NotreDame info

The university does not provide specific support for Flip cameras. The Procurement office has negotiated discounts on many technology items; see https://buy.nd.edu/.
