Fundraising Concert for Christmas Concert of 2007, 25 October, 2007

We write to invite you warmly to the third of our concerts involving our close friends from Northwestern University, University of Notre Dame, Yale University, University of Oxford and Université Paris-Sorbonne, Paris IV.

The concert will feature performances involving groups from all schools. The concert begins at 5:00pm and should last somewhat over three hours; refrehsments will be served afterwards.

If you would like to attend, to ensure we have enough seating and refreshments, we would be greateful if you could complete the slip that accompanies the paper copy of this letter and return to us until 5 October, 2007.

We do hope you will be able to join us to enjoy the art work of our musicians.

궁금한 레코딩 몇장

1. Haydn; Symphonies Nos 88 - 92
Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra/Simon Rattle
육중한 무게감을 지닌 베를린 필이 연주하는 하이든 심포니라는 것은 상상하기 힘든 일이지만..
그래도 래틀의 탁월한 리듬감각을 고려하면 가능할지도 모르겠다는 생각.
"While not trying to ape the lighter sound of period instruments, this heavyweight orchestra under Rattle’s inspired baton is suddenly spry, light on its feet, alert to the smallest changes of accent and nuance."
라는 현학적이고 철저할 정도로 자국 아티스트들에게 옹호적인 권위있는 저널의 리뷰에 현혹 당하지 않는다고 하더라도, 아주 궁금한 앨범.
설사 사고 나서 돈 낭비 했다고 후회할지라도, 래틀과 베를린 필의 조합이 만들어내는 하이든 교향곡은 무척 궁금.

2. Tuur; Magma
Estonian National Symphony Orchestra; Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir; Estonian National Male Choir/Paavo Jarvi
Jarvi의 Tuur에 대한 애정은 지난 4월에 신시내티까지 다녀와서 확인한바 있지만..
신시내티 오케스트라가 아닌 점이 조금 아쉽지만...
다른 지휘자의 Tuur이면 거들떠 보지도 않겠지만, Jarvi라면...

3.Handel; Cantatas for Marchese Ruspoli
Roberta Invernizzi , Emanuela Galli sops Fabio Bonizzoni hpd, Risonanza (La)
가디너의 바흐 칸타타 순례와 더불어 가장 흥미로운 칸타타 순례.
이전 작품을 워낙 감동적으로 들어서 의심의 여지 없이 구입할 음반.
게다가 Roberta Invernizzi이니..

4. Kate Royal

영국 언론의 그녀에 대한 호들갑은 지겹지만..
영국에 있는 지현이의 표현을 그대로 빌리자면 "Royal’s soprano has an addictive quality"
일단 지현이를 믿고 가보자.
일단 Canteloube의 Chants d'Auvergne - Baïlèro;La delïssádo;Malurous qu'o uno fenno 그리고 Granados Goyescas - La maja y el ruiseñor가 수록되어 있으니, 본전은 뽑겠지.

원래 글을 쓸때 수식어를 붙이고 문장을 길게 쓰는 편이다.
이렇게 할수 있었던 이유는 문장을 길게 쓰고 수식어를 붙여도 그 글을 읽는 내 주변의 사람들은 거의 내가 무엇을 말하고자 하는지에 대해서 이해를 하는 사람들이었다.
즉, 그들은 적어도 내가 쓴글에 대해서는 독해 능력이 있는 사람들이었다.

하지만 최근 2년간 2-3문장으로 구성된 간단한 이메일을 보낼때 조차도 문장 위치, 수식어 접속사등에 신경을 기울이게 된다.
2-3줄 짜리 이 메일 조차도 이렇게 신경을 쓸수 밖에 없는 이유는, 글을 제대로 읽지 못하는 사람들이 많다는 것이다. 독해능력이 없는 것인지, 아니면 무성의하게 읽는 것인지 모르겠지만, 이런 사람들을 상대로 글을 읽히는 것은 피곤한 일이다.
2-3줄짜리 이메일을 보낼때도, 수식어 없이 주어 동사 목적어의 가장 간단한 구조로 글을 쓰지만 제대로 읽지 못한다는 것이다.

차라리 요즘은 아예 읽히지 않게끔, 어렵게 글을 쓸까 하는 생각도 든다.
아니면 아예 나까지도 포함하여 아예 아무도 이해할 수 없게 쓰던가!
