SN 2006D is a 15th magnitude supernova on the rise (as of January 16, 2006). Here is a 7 by 7 arcmin chart from the STScI Digital Sky Survey. North is up and east to the left. The SN is not in this image but will be found 13 arcsec to the right (west) and 6 arcsec above (north) the face-on galaxy in the middle of the field.
