Simple
A simple thing is a thing that lacks parts. I treat
the term, ‘lacks’ and ‘parts’ as primitive terms. I
grasp the meaning of ‘part’ by virtue of my direct awareness of things being
parts of things (e.g., the left half of my visual field being part of my complete
visual field). I grasp the meaning of ‘lacks’ by virtue of my awareness of one
thing lacking some property: for example, I’m aware of my lacking the property
of being purple. By ‘thing’ I mean
the same thing as ‘Being’.
