I specialize in the study of political equality within American political institutions, especially the U.S. Congress. My work has appeared in the American Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Politics, Legislative Studies Quarterly, and several edited volumes. I recently published a co-authored book titled Minority Report: Evaluating Political Equality in America with the University of Chicago Press. I am currently writing a book with John Aldrich on the failure of representation in the American South.
