Updated 10/22/2008

Thank you to everyone who made the 2008 Engineering Industry Day a Success! More than 80 companies came to our campus to recruit Notre Dame Engineers. There was a great amount of positive feedback for this event and it is all due to the hard work of the EID committee chairs and volunteers

Sophormore Mentoring is now under way for the 2008-2009 Academic Year. We are looking to make improvements on the program from last year, so if you have any input, please let us know at jec@nd.edu. If you are a Sophomore interested in receiving mentoring, or would like to become a mentor (Juniors and Seniors) please contact Jess Riese for more information. The goal of the program is to provide underclassmen with as many resources as possible for both academic and career issues.

At our next meeting, November 4th (Election Day) we will begin planning for events during National Engineering Week. This event will be managed by the new LIFE (Leadership in Freshmen Engineering) council. If you would like to join LIFE, please drop an email to the club account and we will provide you with more information on joining the JEC.

We will also soon begin planning for Early Admit Weekend coming up in the Spring. Remember what it was like when you came to visit as a senior in high school? Think you can make it better? Contact any of the three social commishioners and tell them that you're interested in helping out!

The JEC will be holding monthly meetings during the first Tuesday of every month. These meetings will take place in the 217 Cushing (EG Lounge) at 8 p.m. (after the conclusion of the SWE meeting). All are welcome to attend and contribute input at the meetings, especially representatives from the other clubs within the College of Engineering. If you would like to receive email notifications of these meetings, contact jec@nd.edu with your information. You may also send pressing issues to this address for consideration by the JEC outside of regular meetings.

Good luck to everyone on the start of a new semester and academic year! If you find yourself overwhelmed and without a study group or help, contact the JEC and we will do our best to help you or point you to someone who can.

If you have any comments or suggestions on the website, please e-mail Avery Scott (ascott5@nd.edu) with your input. The JEC is committed to listening to what the other engineering clubs at Notre Dame have to offer!

what is the jec?

The Joint Engineering Council (JEC) acts as the umbrella organization for all of the professional and honor societies at Notre Dame, and serves to represent the student body in the College of Engineering. Events such as Industry Day in the fall and National Engineering Week in the spring are organized and sponsored by the JEC with assistance from the Society of Women Engineers.
