Bulletin Board

We would like to offer this page as a kind of online bulletin board to those concerned: current and prospective students, their families and friends; alumni and, of course, interested faculty and staff in the Notre Dame community. We hope to hear from you, so send in your announcements, photos, news items etc.. preferably in web format (i.e JPEG for photos) and we'll try to post them as soon as possible.

Dr. Robert Perry, who for almost thirty years provided free medical treatment to ND's students in Angers and is an alum of the program himself was recently presented Notre Dame's Distinguished Alumnus Award, details here

Our first posting of the new year('03/'04) comes to us from the current director, Patrick Martin detailing the exciting possibilities created by an anonymous donor's generous gift

"...we have managed to put together a group excursion that includes a guided visit to three of the major religious sites of the region, a 'déjeuner troglodytique' and a lovely dinner cruise on the Erdre. We'll leave Angers, for a guided tour of the Abbaye Royale de Fontevrault, then travel the route touristique along the Loire to Chenehutte et Cunault. There we'll stop for a 'déjeuner troglodytique' at the "Cave aux Moines", reliving ever so briefly a lovely afternoon of préstage. Lunch will be followed by a guided tour of the Cunault and its 'environs' before we leave for Nantes and a visit to its cathedral (beautifully restored since the fire of 1972 during my time as a student), the Château des Ducs de Bretagne, and the quartier piéton. Around 8:00, we will board a boat for a evening river cruise and truly sumptuous dinner. Our favorite travel agent tells me that the river cruise by night is quite 'passionnant'. We return to Angers around half past midnight. Blake and I appreciate this opportunity to celebrate being here with this extraordinary group of young people. As the academic calendar left us only one weekend without conflicting events, we were beginning to feel somewhat hard pressed to remain true to the intentions of the donor. We're delighted then to have found an event that will be available to all thirty-seven members of the group ... as we'll be several hundred euros under budget, perhaps we can plan a second (more modest) project to benefit our new arrivals in the spring."(posted 30/10/03)
