Nanjing is a beautiful ancient city in south-east China , located at town stream of the Yangtze River. Nanjing
is famous for its historic and cultural sites, such as Dr. Sun Yatsen Mausoleum, Ming Dynasty’s Tom, the world
cultural heritage, Confucian Temple etc.
(I) Arrive at Nanjing
by Airplanes:
There are direct flights
between Nanjing and
international cities: Shanghai, Hong Kong, Beijing.
(1.a) Foreign participants
will be able to be picked up (sent away), by prior arrangements, at (to) the Nanjing
airport.
(1.b) If you did not find
anyone to pick you up, then try to take a taxi to Nanjing University. The taxi fare (from Nanjing Airport to Nanjing University) is about $16USD, which
takes about 40 minutes.
(1.c) Please note that, if
you fly into Nanjing
via Shanghai, then there are two airports in Shanghai and you might have to take bus and/or taxi
between Shanghai’s
two airports.
In
general, international passengers will arrive at "Shanghai Pudong International
Airport". The
domestic flights between Shanghai and Nanjing are operated from
"Shanghai Hongqiao Airport". However, there are
direct buses from Pudong and Hongqiao
international airports (for flights from Shanghai
to Nanjing).
The departure times of the buses from Pudong
international airport are 12:40, 15:40, 16:40 and 19:20; from Hongqiao international airport are 11:30, 13:45, 16:45,
17:45 and 20:20. Bus fares in China
are very cheap, (1 Euro = 10 Chinese Yuans). Taxi
fares between two airports might be under 25 Euros.
(1.d) There are many
flights between Nanjing and Beijing (or Hong Kong). If
you do not speak Chinese, it might be easy to fly into Nanjing via Beinjing
(or Hong Kong) as well.
(1.e) There might be more
flights between Europe and Beijing (or Hong Kong). One can choose to fly into Beijing
(or Hong Kong) then fly to Nanjing without changing
airports. It is a plus.
(II) Ground transportation between Shanghai and Nanjing:
Nanjing is 300km away from Shanghai. It takes 3.5 hours to travel between Nanjing and Shanghai by freeway-bus and/or train.
(2.a) There also are direct
buses from Shanghai’s two airports to Nanjing,
which are very convenient.
(2.b) If you choose to take
train to Nanjing,
you need to take ground transportation from "Shanghai Pudong International
Airport" to Shangai Train Station. The time table for train from Shanghai to Nanjing is listed below.
(2.c) After you get off the
train (or bus), you can take a taxi to Nanjing University. The taxi fare is about
$2USD from Nanjing Train Station (and/or Nanjing
Bus Station) to Nanjing University.
