Spring 2011, Math 10-860-01, Honors Calculus II

This is the sequel course to Honors Calculus I, which was a rigorous introduction to integral and differential calculus in one variable. This course concerns the interaction of that material with the study of sequences and series of complex numbers and functions, and an includes an introduction to elements of linear algebra and higher dimensional geometry. The course stresses careful mathematical definitions and emphasizes the proofs of the main theorems of the subject. In addition to mastering the content, the additional goals of the course are: to adopt the language of calculus; develop the technical skill of proof-writing; and learn to verbally communicate mathematics to other mathematicians.
