WELCOME TO THE ELECTRONIC CLIPPING SERVICE
NOTE: THE CLIPPINGS STOPPED ON DECEMBER 31, 1999.
The Electronic Clipping Service is the electronic version of the Clipping Collection housed in The International Studies Resource Center on the second floor of Hesburgh Library .
The Clipping Collection is a browsing archive of newspaper articles collected from 1961 through 1997. As of January 1, 1998, all newspaper clippings ceased as services evolved into electronic format. This new format is The Electronic Clipping service.
Because we are now able to access a wider range of news sources, the
ECS is a broader database of information. While the paper clippings permitted
only the use of five news sources, the ECS allows us to use any news source
availabe on the World Wide Web. (Though currently limited to free sources,
the library is considering subscribing to Le Monde to use as a French
news reference.)
SEARCH TIPS
The ISRC Electronic Clippings Service (ECS) requires only a keyword,
such as the name of a country, to begin the search.
In order to access foreign language articles, it is preferable to conduct
the search in the foreign language
This database is updated daily with articles from around the world.
We try to ensure the coverage of all countries, though that is not always
possible. It is also important to note that this database is in its infancy,
and will grow.
HOLDINGS
The ECS holdings begin on January 1, 1998 as a continuation of the paper Clipping Collection housed in the ISRC (1961-1997). If an article for which you are searching precedes January 1, 1998, please come to the ISRC for assistance.
Also, at this time no French newspaper articles are available to the ISRC. We hope to add French sources soon.
We are also working on obtaining a new search engine to our site to optimize your searches.
Please feel free to send your comments to us at the address given on
the homepage. Thank you.
