Race and Immigration in the New Ireland

The past ten years have been a period of profound change in Ireland. Hundreds of thousands of immigrants arriving from Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia are having a dramatic effect on almost every aspect of life on the island. This conference explores the social, legal, academic and artistic ramifications of immigration on the “New Ireland.”

The conference will open in Washington Hall, Sunday, October 14th at 7:15 PM with a keynote address by former President of Ireland and U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson. President Robinson’s speech will also help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Center for Social Concerns.
