Brian Ó Conchubhair earned a B.Ed. from Mary Immaculate College of Education, before receiving an M.A. in Modern Irish from University College Galway and subsequently an M.A. in English/Irish Studies from Boston College. As a Government of Ireland Scholar, he completed a Ph.D. in Modern Irish at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Prior to joining the faculty at Notre Dame, he lectured at Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski, Poland and Boston College, and administered the On-line Irish Studies Program at NUI Galway. He has published academic articles in journals and books including The Irish University Review, Éire-Ireland, The New Hibernian Review/Iris Éireannach Nua, Irisleabhar Mhá Nuad, Yearbook of English Studies, Comhar, Sport in History, and Towards the Light: Selected Essays on Cathal Ó Searcaigh. He was also curator of an exhibition of Free State Art at Boston College. His research interests include the Irish Literary Revival, nineteenth- and twentieth-century writers and contemporary fiction in the Irish language.
