Lonely Planet describes Paris as “the bon vivant of European cities and the most romantic capital in the world. Experience its magic with apéros at a pavement café, seductive strolls along the Seine , hours lost in labyrinthine art galleries and treasures found at weekend marches.” Notre Dame students will study and live near the Montparnasse train station. This neighborhood is a lively residential area, bustling with cafés, restaurants, theaters, and shops, and within walking distance of the Latin Quarter.
The five-week program (May 18 – June 23) offers 2 courses, worth 3 credits each. Students will enroll in both courses through the University of Notre Dame’s Summer Session. Dr. Thomas Kselman, Professor of History, will instruct a course entitled History of Paris. Students will also enroll in an art history course, taught in English by a native French professor. Notre Dame students will receive Notre Dame credit for these courses and they will count towards the GPA. Applicants must be full time students in good standing at the University of Notre Dame or St. Mary’s College. Students are not required to have studied French. The application deadline is March 1, 2006.
