CONFERENCE SITE LOCATION
AND TRAVEL
Conference Site: The conference will be held at the University of Notre Dame London Centre, located at 1 Suffolk Street in the heart of London. Situated
on the north-west corner of Trafalgar Square, the building is adjacent to the National
Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery, and on the edge of London’s West End theatreland. Buckingham Palace and Downing Street are only
ten minutes walk to the west. Legal
London is the same distance to the east.
Public open spaces such as St James’s
Park, Waterloo Gardens, Embankment Gardens, and the River Thames are less than
five minutes walk away while King’s College, the London School
of Economics, and other departments and colleges of the University of London are just along the Strand. The area is well provided for in
terms of bookshops, pharmacies, and a wide range of eating establishments. London’s half-price theatre ticket booth
is located right around the corner in Leicester Square. The
building is very well placed for public transport facilities. Charing Cross Mainline
and Underground Stations are three minutes away, with connections
to the Jubilee, Bakerloo and Northern lines. Leicester Square Underground Station, with connections
to the Picadilly and Northern lines, is
equally close. Many bus routes
pass through Trafalgar
Square. To reach the building’s
main entrance, walk west from the National Gallery and turn right
into Suffolk Street (click on link to the left for Conference
Site Map).
