Archaeology & the General Public

What is archaeology? Who practices archaeology? What are the goals of archaeology? What role does archaeology serve in society? What contributions does it make to our understanding to past cultures, technologies, and economic systems? How does our understanding of the past enrich our lives today? In groups of two, students will be required to write a two page, single-spaced essay outlining their response to one of these questions. This work must provide specific examples, draw upon at least four references beyond class texts, and follow the referencing system employed in this class. Student groups will be responsible for posting their essays on the Myths and Facts web page.
