Cult Archaeology: Case Studies

What are some of the major examples of pseudoscientific or cult archaeology? For this assignment students will be required to apply what they have learned in the previous assignment by identifying the commonalities of cult archaeology in a specific case study. In groups of two students will be required to develop a two page, single-spaced, critical evaluation of a single case study. This paper must include references and at least two illustraations (students must also reference these illustrations and gain permission for use of these on the web). These projects will then be posted on the Myths and Facts web page and be made accessible to other students and readers. Due to potential overlap with other groups, each group must clear their topic selection with the instructor.

Possible topics inlcude:

Atlantis, Egyptian pyramids, Stonehenge, Bigfoot, King Arthur, Nasca lines, Fantastic archaeology, Space contact, Easter Island, Mound builders, Astronomy, Southeast Asia-Mesoamerica contact, Phoenicians in North America, Ancient technologies and UFOs, Archaeologists and survivalists.
