Article I:
NAME OF CLUB/ORGANIZATION
The
name of this organization will be "Indian Association of Notre Dame" (IAND)
Article II:
CLUB PURPOSE
To
promote interest in Indian culture amongst members of the University
community through various events related to Indian culture.
Article III:
MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to any interested undergraduate/graduate members of the
Notre Dame/ St. Mary's Community Article.
Article IV:
MEMBERSHIP FEES
Each
member must pay an annual fee and participate in at least one major event.
Article V:
CLUB OFFICERS
SECTION 1: The President
,Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary shall be the officers of the club.

Secretary/any other officer assigned by the president
SECTION 6: An elected member
found deficient in his/her duties may be removed by a 2/3 vote of the club
members.
Article VI:
DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS
The
funds will be spent for purposes as the executive board sees fit.
Amendments to the constitution:
Article II:
CLUB PURPOSE
To promote Indian culture and tradition among the Notre Dame community and
to induce a higher international participation among the same.
Article IV:
MEMBERSHIP DUES:
Membership will be classified into the following categories based on the
adjoining criterion:
1. Regular Membership: Includes membership for all Notre Dame/ Saint Mary's
College students.
2. Associate Membership: Includes membership for all Notre Dame/ Saint
Mary's College faculty only. No voting rights or officer status.
3. Alumni Membership: Includes membership for ex-students of the University.
Membership dues will be paid during the course of the year and the amount
will be set at the discretion of the Executive Board. The amount depends on
the number of members pertaining to that category and as per the club
expectations for expenses for the coming year. Fees will be collected by the
Treasurer or any other officer present at the club event.
Article V:
CLUB/ ASSOCIATION OFFICERS
Section 1: Majority of the officers shall be ND undergrad students, with the
remaining positions occupied by SMC or graduate students.
Section 2: The officers will be the President, Vice President, Treasurer,
Secretary or any other position(s) deemed necessary by the President. The
officers will be elected based on a minimum of 2/3 majority of the active
members.
Section 3: The duties of the President shall be to convene and preside over
meetings of the club and to supervise and direct all club activities.
Section 4: The duties of the Vice President shall be to assist the President
in the club activities and planning. They are also expected to take charge
during the President's absence.
Section 5: The duties of the Treasurer shall be to co-ordinate and budget
all financial expenses and to maintain a sound financial agenda.
Section 6: The duties of the Secretary shall be to co-ordinate and organize
all promotional activities and to maintain proper records of meetings with
public
relations, associated personnel and the Executive Board.
Section 7: Any officer who does not fulfill his/her responsibilities or
violated any club policy/constitution will be subject to impeachment after a
trial requiring 2/3 majority. The officer found guilty of the charge will be
replaced by a new officer if necessary.
Article VI:
DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS
Section 1: All club disbursements must be authorized by both the President
and the Treasurer, and approved by the Advisor.
Section 2: The club funds will primarily be spent for the following
purposes:
(a) In promoting club's identity and recognition
(b) In organizing club events & activities
(c) In promoting club's culture and spirit
Article VII:
MEETINGS
Section 1: Meetings will be held as deemed appropriate by the president.
Information on meetings will be sent out 2 days prior to the date. However,
emergency meetings may be
called at the discretion of the President.
Section 2: A member will may be expelled from the club for missing five
consecutive meetings without a sufficient excuse.
Section 3: Quorum for meetings shall be the Executive Board, plus any
interested member of the club.
Section 4: The presiding officers of the club shall have the final vote on
any activity/ decision. In the case of a non-majority, the President will
have the
authority to make the deciding judgment.
Section 5: All members are invited to attend the meetings and to give their
input.
Article VIII:
CLUB ADVISOR
Section 1: The Advisor shall be a full time faculty or administrative staff
member at either Notre Dame or Saint Mary's.
Section 2: The Advisor will assist the Executive Board in settling all
disputes arising within the Board/ Club beyond the scope of the President.
Section 3: The Advisor is selected based on his/her experience with the
club's culture, background and focus.
Article IX:
AMMENDMENTS
Section 1: Amendments to the Constitution can be made at any time by a 60%
majority of the presiding officers.
Section 2: All amendments must be submitted in writing to the Student
Activities Office.
