The Research Experience for Teachers (RET) is a summer program sponsored by the National Science Foundation in order to provide research opportunities for K-12 and pre-service teachers. My research experience involved the study of the semiconductor GaN (Gallium Nitride), a promising new technology, with the Jena-Xing Group at the University of Notre Dame.
