In the 1970s
several Holy Cross sisters from Canada went to Mali in Western Africa.
Today six (6) sisters remain in Mali. Two (2) are in Dyou, working in
the elementary school, as teacher's aides and four (4) in Sikasso, working
in the Center for Students -- a boarding house for young girls coming
to Sikasso to study in High School; besides offering room and board,
the sisters help with homework and studies. The sisters are also involved
with the Diocese for Vocation Ministry, as well as doing it for the
Congregation. One of the sisters is a RN and does work with the mothers
in preventive health care.
