Refugees

One of our seminarians was killed by falling rubble. Our high school in Port-au-Prince is mostly a ruin. Our residences and churches have suffered serious damage, yet our priests, brothers, and seminarians are doing their best to aid refugees who have less.

Our parishes, schools, and congregations have mobilized. All donations collected by Holy Cross in the U.S. are being pooled in our office for distribution to relief and rebuilding efforts. 100% of monies collected are going to Haiti.

Please contact us below for more information about how to donate by check or credit card. Even at this early stage, we are overwhelmed with gratitude by the support we have received as our friends in Haiti face their cross, and we strive as our Constitutions call us to be “men with hope to bring.”

Fr. Tom Streit
Fr. Tom Streit, C.S.C. was in the Hotel Montana in Port-au-Prince when the earthquake hit with a Notre Dame group. They rode the building down as it collapsed trapping many under rubble. He said, “The churches were all gone, all of them. And yet, people at night were praying and singing. They were holding hands as perhaps the only thing they could do without food or water. They turned to God.”
