Vineeta Yadav
(M.A., University of Wisconsin-Madison; Ph.D., Yale University, 2007) Assistant Professor, specializes in comparative politics, international economics, and the political economy of economic development. She has a special focus on Indian and Chinese politics. Her dissertation research focused on the institutional foundations of special interest group behaviour in information-poor countries. Her empirical work uses original data from a survey of business groups in Brazil, China and India to study the micro-foundations of business-government relations in these countries. She has a forthcoming article on "Business Lobbies and Policymaking in Developing Countries Today: From Clientalism To . . .? A Study of India and China" in a special issue of the Journal Of Public Affairs focusing on Interest Groups, Lobbying And Lobbyists In Developing Democracies.
Currently, as a Fellow at the Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance, Princeton University, is working on an empirical study of the mechanisms of interest group impact on policy making for trade, taxation, labor and credit policies in these 3 countries. Future work will also explore the role that institutional incentives and informational asymmetries play in driving the choice of interest groups to engage in legitimate lobbying or corrupt practices.
