Upcoming Professional Development Events

 

Surviving Graduate School Workshop: February 4, 2005, 3-4:30 PM. Legends.

David Thunder, Derek Webb, Sarah Houser, and Fred Licon will share their insights on short-term tasks (surviving the first year and preparing for comprehensive exams) and long-term goals (publishing, developing ideas for a dissertation, and positioning oneself for the job market) with first year students over food and drinks at Legends.

 

Dissertation Workshop: April 15, 2005, 3-4:30 PM. Seminar room C-103, Hesburgh Center.

Claire Smith, Paul Vasquez, Jeremy John, David Thunder, and Derek Webb will discuss the following topics regarding the dissertation: Selection of topic, forming and working with a dissertation committee, drafting a proposal and preparing for the oral exam, research (including survey research), writing and time management, and defense of the dissertation.
