The Rector Fund
The Rector Fund was created by Student Government in 2001. Since, that time, the Office of Student Affairs has worked together with Student Government to assist students with financial need who wish to participate in a variety of activities that are some of the hallmarks of the Notre Dame experience.
Typically, the Rector Fund is used to cover expenses for things like hall, section, or class events; football tickets; JPW event tickets; performance tickets that are required for academic courses; and participation fees for service trips. In cases of extreme financial need, the Rector Fund can assist with limited medical service payment ($300.00 maximum), travel expenses for a parent for events such as JPW and Commencement, or a student’s travel expenses to return home at Christmas break. In every Rector Fund case, eligibility is determined by the Office of Financial Aid; that office reviews the student’s financial aid file and makes a recommendation about whether the student has demonstrated financial need.
Since its inception in 2001, the Rector Fund has been financed by an annual transfer from The Shirt Project through the Financial Management Board. For more information about the Rector Fund, please click here.
