RESEARCH FACULTY POSITION IN FLUID DYNAMICS
- The Center for Flow Physics and Control and the Department
of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, University
of Notre Dame. Applications are invited for a Research
Faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in
the area of Experimental Fluid Dynamics/Aerodynamics.
A higher rank appointment is possible for a candidate
with an established record of research, scholarly publication
and external funding. Requirements include an earned
doctorate, demonstrated research expertise in the experimental
fluid dynamics area, and an interest in assisting existing
research, and developing new research areas. Of special
interest are candidates with experience in aero-optics,
flow control, and advanced data analysis techniques
such as Linear Stochastic Estimation and Proper Orthoganal
Decomposition. Successful candidates will be expected
to support an active externally funded research program.
The candidate will join faculty in the Center for Flow
Physics and Control at the University of Notre Dame.
The Center is located within the Hessert Laboratory,
a modern 40,000 square foot laboratory complex designed
for conducting research in fluid mechanics, aeroacoustics,
aeropropulsion and flow control. This truly unique graduate
research facility contains state-of-the-art low and
high-speed wind tunnel facilities, advanced flow field
diagnostic equipment and computational facilities. Interested
persons should send their curriculum vita, four professional
references, and a one page statement of research interests
to: Dr. Thomas Corke, Director, Center for Flow Physics
and Control, 101 Hessert Center, University of Notre
Dame, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Telephone: (574) 631-3261,
Fax: (219) 631-8355. For full consideration, applications
