The following awards were presented at the Notre Dame Tournament.

Innovative Design Award: ROBOSCORPS from Hammond, IN

This award is presented to the team that best demonstrates their ability to use a creative design,

component or unique strategy of play for the most original approach when solving the Challenge missions.

Robust Design Award: METLINK from South Bend, IN

TEAM 2465

This award is presented to the team that best demonstrates their understanding and application of sound mechanical principles, producing the most solid, consistent and dependable robot.

 

Programming Award: LEGO ARCHITECHS from Osceola, IN

TEAM 361

This award is presented to the team who understands and applies sound programming principals, creating an effective and efficient program to run the robot.

Robot Performance Award 2nd Place: BTBAF from Ft. Wayne, IN

TEAM 1233

This award is presented to the teams whose robot achieved the best score on the competition field at the tournament. The top 2 scoring teams of all 3 rounds are presented with this award. Should there be a tie for 1st or 2nd place, the second highest scores of those teams involved will be the deciding factor.

Research Presentation Award: ROBOTICS COALITION XTREME from West Lafayette, IN

This award is presented to the team whose quality research, innovative solutions and creative presentation best reflect an in-depth understanding the various scientific disciplines and issues involved with the Challenge Research Assignment.

Teamwork Award: ROBO RAPTURES from Granger, IN

TEAM 3752

Teamwork is necessary to succeed in FIRST LEGO League, and is the key ingredient in any team. This award is presented to the team that best demonstrates extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit, exceptional partnership and the utmost respect to their own teammates, and in their support and encouragement of fellow teams. The team presented this trophy demonstrates to the judges, confidence, energy and enthusiasm, problem solving skills, understanding and respect of others, and team interaction and group dynamics

Against All Odds Award: CYCLOPIAN FUZZBALLS from Notre Dame

TEAM 3038

Incredible odds can be overcome if we just never give up, no matter what. This award goes to the team, who rises from the worst situation to improvise, adapt, overcome, and still make a respectable showing.

Team Spirit Award: BTBAF from Ft Wayne, IN

TEAM 1233

This award goes to the team that most enthusiastically demonstrates a commitment to getting others to see how accessible, fun, and rewarding science and technology can be, especially when you're part of a great team.

Judges Award: CITY KIDZ from Granger, IN

Team 176

Many high quality teams don't exactly fit the mold for an existing award, but nonetheless deserving. Some teams have a story that profoundly sets them apart in a unique way. This award gives the judges the freedom to recognize the most remarkable team for which a standard award does not exist.

Director's Award: LEGO ARCHITECHS from Osceola, IN

TEAM 361

This award encompasses five key elements of the technical and team performance awards. This award honors the team's understanding and practice of the true meaning of FIRST and FLL. The winner of the Director's award has the honor of being the top qualifier to go onto the state tournament.

Qualifications for the State Tournament
Robot Performance, Research Presentation, Innovative Design, Robust Design, Programming, and Teamwork, were the categories used to determine which teams qualify for the State tournament. Scores from these categories were totaled and the top 10 teams will have the opportunity to participate at the State Tournament level.
