Saving For College
Planning and saving for college now while your children are pre-school
aged or are in grade school is the best choice that a parent can make
for the future education expenses of their children. Notre Dame encourages
all families to investigate carefully the many college savings opportunities
available nationally, such as those listed below.
Generally, college savings programs are becoming more generous and
flexible with their provisions. This web page will be updated as new
information on these programs become available.
The Tuition Plan Consortium:
the Independent 529 Plan

by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators*
*Both the Independent 529 Plan as well as the state 529
programs offer considerable and favorable federal income tax considerations
for all tax filers, regardless of family income. There are other
significant advantages including portability, transferability, and
control of ownership by the purchaser.
