Description of Position

Responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Enforcing all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations. Inspecting the facility on a daily basis and reporting any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor. Completing records and reports and participating in regular in-service training sessions. Maintaining fitness levels (swimming skills, strength and endurance). Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Must possess current certification in the following: American Red Cross Lifeguarding (star Guard, Ellis Guard, and YMCA accepted); First Aid; American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques is a necessity. Must possess leadership, public relations and decision making skills as well as an understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures.

Schedule

Many hours available between 2 facilities.  Some early morning and weekend work required. Lifeguards work at both facilities: Rolfs Aquatic Center and Rockne Memorial Pool.

Hourly Rate

$8.10

Try-Outs will take place Sunday, September 2nd from 3:00p.m. - 5:00p.m. at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. Bring copies of certifications, swimsuit, goggles, and a smile. Pre-Try Out letters of interest are encouraged.  Email Sarah Ryckman for more information.
