Description of Position

Legends Student Catering Managers assist the Catering and Events Manager in the on-site management of private catered events at Legends, as well as a few aspects of daily operations.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assist the Catering and Events Manager with maintaining an up-to-date calendar of catering events.
Assist the Catering and Events Manager with marketing and sales initiatives to promote Legends as a premiere private events venue, to students, campus departments, and the surrounding community.


Maintain and organize catering supplies, including inventory of supplies on a monthly basis.


Meet with Catering Event Staff members before each shift to review event details; motivate the Catering Event Staff members to excellence.
Lead the Catering Event Staff members in the set-up, implementation, and tear-down of private events; oversee all aspects of event operations in the absence of the Catering and Events Manager. Ensure that all staff members are performing their assigned duties at the highest level.


Know, understand, and help uphold all Legends and University policies and procedures. Offer, maintain, and role model a level of customer service consistent with the standard of excellence expected of all Legends employees.


Answer questions and provide information to guests in a friendly and helpful manner.


Familiarize self with emergency procedures for the venue.


Work with the Catering and Events Manager on staff incentive initiatives. Communicate and meet regularly with the Catering and Events Manager.
Follow instruction of Legends management.

Qualifications

The ideal Legends Student Catering Manager will be able to demonstrate the following:

Good communication skills (written and verbal). Strong organizational skills and orientation to details. Leadership abilities among peers. Ability to calmly and appropriately handle high stress situations. Ability to think on one's feet and make informed decisions quickly.

Flexibility towards both hours worked and tasks to be completed.

Basic understanding of Microsoft Office. Strong folding abilities and/or past catering/restaurant experience is a bonus.
