Description of Position

Specification:
The MSPS Graduate Assistant will implement MSPS communications and media strategy to improve visual awareness of the office, generate quality interactions in the Notre Dame community, and encourage the spread of multicultural education and support for historically underrepresented students at Notre Dame. The Graduate Assistant applies strategies under the direction of the MSPS Assistant Director and coordinates all print and web-based media in support of the mission of MSPS.

Responsibilities:

- Implement MSPS communications and media strategy in most consistent, effective, and interactive ways using print communications, digital media, and web-based social media
- Manage the MSPS social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter.   - Manage the MSPS website     Manage and edit the MSPS blog
- Coordinate weekly email communications
- Develop strategies to increase the level of quality interactions with MSPS
- Monitor the impact of social media programs, and analyze, review, and report on the effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results
- Become an advocate of MSPS and its mission.
- Be available for special night and weekend events in order to collaborate and communicate information effectively and knowingly.
- Conduct video editing, when necessary.

Qualifications

Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in the Graduate School at the University of Notre Dame.
- Must understand and support the mission of MSPS.
- Must have strong organizational, communications, and digital media skills.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and blogging.
- Must have strong writing, editing, and creative skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge and interest in understanding social media platforms and how they can be used in innovative ways to promote the social mission of MSPS.
- Must be a team player, with confidence to manage several communications projects at once and to educate others on effective office communications.
- Must be able to attend MSPS bi-monthly staff meetings

Schedule

Flexible but some evenings or weekends may be required.
