Exit Loan Counseling Information
Federal regulations require that all students who have borrowed from the federal loan programs receive exit loan counseling. Exit loan counseling provides details regarding a borrower’s rights and responsibilities for student loan repayment, deferment options, and loan consolidation benefits. Please follow the 2-step process listed below:
| STEP 1: Online Exit Counseling
|
Students who have borrowed both the Perkins and the Stafford Loans must complete both (Perkins and Stafford) online counseling sessions.
Federal Perkins Loan
Perkins Loan borrowers graduating in January 2010 will receive an email in early November from University Accounting Services (UAS), Notre Dame's Perkins Loan Servicer. The email will provide students a link to complete the required online Perkins counseling. At the same time, this site will provide an active link to the online Perkins counseling.

| Step 2: Individual Counseling (optional) |
Students graduating in January 2010 who would like to discuss repayment options, loan deferment, loan consolidation, or ask questions specific to their personal situations are encouraged to make an appointment with a counselor in the Financial Aid Office.
All students leaving the University are encouraged to carefully review the Exit Counseling PowerPoint. If there are additional questions after reviewing the presentation, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.
