Advice from Farley Girls

Enjoy every minute! Yes, we all have days that life gets busy and stressful but don't let that stop you from taking advantage of all the fun opportunities that college has to offer- cheer loud at the football games, get to know the other Farley girls, participate in section and dorm events, play mud volleyball, go to concerts, play interhall sports, volunteer, toss a Frisbee or football on the quad, go for a walk, visit the Grotto, join a club. You will remember these parts of college far longer than the calculus or chemistry so get out there and make the most of your years at the greatest university ever! - Kelly Weber

When you're in your room, leave the door open to invite in new friends!

Bring your cell phone around with you during the beginning of the year so that you can put all the names and numbers of people you meet into it. - Kelsey Conlon

Check out programs that the Center for Social Concerns offers. The Appalachia trip over both Fall Break and Spring Break is an amazing experience both socially and spiritually. - Katie Valko

Meet as many people as possible during freshman year, because you never know with whom you’ll really click well. Also, try to get work done during your free time between classes and in the afternoons so you can relax at night and get some extra sleep! - Kelsey Gallagher

The post office is a hop-skip-and-a-jump from Farley, making it easy to send packages to friends and family (and maybe they’ll return the favor!)

My one piece of advice to you is to get enough sleep. In college this may be hard to do at times, but I promise you those 8 hours of sleep will be extremely beneficial. You will see yourself perform better in school as well as have enough energy to hang out with friends and participate in various activities. - Analise Althoff

Most of the sporting events are free with your Student ID so keep an eye on the schedules and go out to support your Fighting Irish! You may recognize some faces from classes or from around Farley even! Often times there are free Irish paraphernalia giveaways! - Katie Valko

In the summer, a lot of stores have lists of "Everything you will need in your Dorm Room" don’t buy everything on that list. The rooms are small and the storage space is limited so be mindful of what you bring. There are plenty of stores around campus to buy what you forget.

Come to school with an open mind. You’ll meet many new, different people. At first glance they may not be your usual type of comrade, but you might end up as best friends!

Bring and wear sunscreen - especially during football games!

You acquire SO MANY tshirts over your first few weeks here so pack very few. They multiply.
