LEADERSHIP IN A REVOLUTIONARY AGE
January 12-13, 2007
University of Notre Dame London Centre, 1 Suffolk Street,
London SW1, England
A SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY TO LOOK AT LEADERSHIP THROUGH THE LENS OF HISTORY
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
HOW DO LEADERS DEAL WITH THE CHALLENGES OF REVOLUTIONARY CHANGE?
Join us in London, England, for two days studying the real choices leaders must make to manage in a fast-changing, high-stakes environment. The Notre Dame International Leadership Series is pleased to present a program designed to be of value to a broad cross section of people. Perfect for managers, senior executives, Notre Dame Alumni, and friends of the University, this program draws on an epoch-making period of history to offer invaluable lessons, and cautions, about the ways in which exceptional leaders choose to confront crisis and rapid change.
The American Revolutionary period (1776-1815) offers extraordinary opportunities for assessing leadership and the obstacles and constraints leaders on both sides of the Atlantic confronted as they faced unprecedented widespread and revolutionary change.
This program will examine and draw important lessons from the personal experience, political loyalties, and ideological commitments of leaders on both sides of the Atlantic during the American Revolutionary period. World-class British and American historians will immerse you in the context of the time, challenge you to think in new ways, and help you to develop an enhanced understanding of, and appreciation for, the skills required to lead wisely, boldly, and successfully through times of rapid change.
During this unique program, in the company of a talented faculty, you will:
- Examine leadership in a revolutionary age
- Consider motivations and expectations in a revolutionary environment
- Discuss preparing for a crisis
- Assess how defining issues are identified in times of crisis
- Study methods used in assessing leadership on all sides of a crisis
- Explore the characteristics of effective leadership in a time of crisis
- Analyze the real choices leaders make
- Scan current international leadership issues
- And more…
By program’s end, you will have developed a deeper, richer understanding of the ways in which leaders respond to the challenges of revolutionary change, and of the leadership characteristics that can determine success - or failure.
