Evaluation Study Findings

Six months or more after participation in Executive Integral Leadership (EIL):

  • 91% agreed that "EIL has equipped me with new tools in such areas as effective communication, conflict resolution and decision making for greater leadership effectiveness.
  • 92% agreed "Overall, the benefits to my organization resulting from my participation in EIL are worth the training time and costs."
  • 93% agreed that "EIL has helped me to choose actions, behaviors and responses that enable me to stay conscious of my values while pursuing the goals."
  • 97% agreed that "EIL has enabled me to lead and manage more consciously."
    • The "Percent of Disagreement" (participants who responded Disagree or Strongly Disagree) was extremely low and unremarkable across both surveys and all items.=
    • One additional common theme across both surveys was the expressed desire for follow-up/next phase EIL development.

Selected In-Depth Interview Comments from EIL Participants

  • "Since my change in role focus, I have had a 22% increase in revenue growth which equates to about $11million in sales. I am out there reinvigorating partnerships…I have widened the scope of where we can generate revenue. This will have a big impact over time, $11million already… "
  • "I used the conflict resolution methods in a recent liability negotiation (in the UK) and saved my organization $2 million in one day."
  • "EIL pushed my thinking and since (EIL) I have bought a major competitor which is helping us grow and diversify. Pushing into being more diversified could have a huge advantage into the future…"
  • "The 360 degree review was the most meaningful part of the session. Seeing how others see me has helped validate my strengths while making me more aware of areas where I can improve."
  • "I have refocused my approach to be more authentic as a leader. EIL helped me to realize that I needed to change and transform the organization rather than walking away from it. I am now working hard to be more genuine, be a better communicator and collaborator and to think more about the decisions I make."
  • "It provided me with the most comprehensive understanding of leadership that I had ever undertaken. It also provided me with the most in depth analysis and understanding of myself along with my strengths and areas for improvement."

Survey Design

The data collection took place in the 4th quarter of 2003 through January 2004. The data was collected using two (2) instruments that were custom designed for EIL:

  1. An electronic survey was emailed to all 215 participants and 97 responded.
  2. A phone interview was conducted with twenty (20) randomly selected EIL participants, representing 10% of the population that attended EIL.
  • The content validity of the findings is high. The inter-instrument and intra-instrument correlation of findings is also high.
  • Comments transcribed from in-depth interviews are provided without attribution in order to protect the integrity of the survey and the confidentiality of the respondents.
