Kay Wigton, Director of Shared Values,
Baxter International
Lecture title: Baxter's Story - Taking Corporate Culture
from Concept to Reality

Kay Wigton has worked for Baxter Healthcare
for over 17 years in various consulting, operations, strategy
and human resource positions. She joined the Hospital Supply
Division as a Management Associate in 1985 having graduated
from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor's degree
in Business Administration. She held a variety of positions
within Operations during her first seven years with Baxter.
She then joined the Human Resource function
in September of 1991 as Director of Corporate Staffing and
College Relations. There she developed the first corporate-wide
job posting system, allowing access to open positions nationally
via the telephone. The system has grown to be global with
inter/intranet access.
Kay then joined a corporate re-engineering
team serving as the Director of Customer Requirements. She
was also responsible for the marketing and communication aspects
of this technology based initiative.
She then assumed responsibilities as Director
of Shared Values in 1994. In this internal consulting role,
Kay led efforts to strategically clarify and change Baxter’s
corporate culture. Next Kay served as Director, Customer Loyalty
where she led the initiative to develop and implement a global
survey process with metrics designed to improve customer loyalty.
Most recently, Kay has been a Director, Innovation
& Strategic Initiatives where she leads the effort to
impact Baxter’s culture relative to innovation and supports
the Non-Traditional Innovation process. This exciting area
is devoted to helping Baxter achieve its aggressive growth
targets.
Kay has also served on the Dean’s Advisory
Council for the Mendoza College of Business at the University
of Notre Dame since 1992.
