In addition to classroom experiences, the Summer Engineering
Program is designed to involve students in the culture and technology
of London and other select locations throughout Europe. Many students
cite their participation in the program as a significant time in their
lives.
Although the nature of the required field trips varies year to year,
visits to engineering marvels have included visits to the Channel Tunnel,
the Sellafield nuclear fuel reprocessing plant, Ironbridge Gorge, the
Prime Meridian, the Thames Flood Barrier, and the Farnborough Air Show.
We also have toured industrial facilities such as the IBM research and
manufacturing facilities in southern England, Inmarsat, Accenture, Rolls-Royce
Headquarters,
and Astrium.
Cultural activities include visits to the National Maritime Museum at
Greenwich, a Shakespearean presentation at the Regent's Park Open Air
Theater, and a West End Musical. |
