DUBLIN,
Ireland
ABOUT
THE LOCATION. A capital city of 1,000,000 people located on the east
coast of Ireland, Dublin is the location for another of Notre Dame's international
study programs. It has a rich cultural life manifest especially in its
theatrical offerings and traditional Irish and classical music. Dublin
also boasts several excellent museums, including the National Museum with
Celtic objects from the eighth and ninth centuries and the National Gallery,
which has a large collection of paintings of Irish artists. Students take
courses at the Keough-Notre Dame Study Center in Dublin and either University
College Dublin (UCD) or Trinity College Dublin (Trinity).
PROGRAM OF STUDIES. The Dublin Program is unique in that it can
accommodate students from all of Notre Dame's colleges. About 40 students
per semester will take two courses at the Notre Dame Center, such as a
theology course and an Irish Studies course, and enroll directly in UCD
for the rest of their courses. While many students follow this program
for one semester, engineering students will stay the entire year. This
works best for the junior year.
