Chemical
and Biomolecular Engineering to Offer Undergraduate
Bioengineering Option
The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
will offer a bimolecular engineering option for students within the
chemical engineering degree program. A key part of the program is that
it incorporates life science example problems into many of the departments
core courses, emphasizing the structure and function of biologically
active molecules and how they interface with both living systems and
inanimate chemical systems. Students completing this option will be
able to address topics such as artificial skin, blood, and organs; tissue
engineering; advanced drug delivery systems; biosensors; and the development
of new materials for medical applications.
