The Notre Dame Faculty/Staff Hockey Team first took the ice in 1968 (as seen above) with the opening of the Joyce Center on campus.  Among the skaters in the earliest days was Ara Parseghian, former football coach of the Fighting Irish.  Over the years the team has played opponents in Philadelphia, Detroit, and South Bend. 

In the spring and fall of 2000 the team first participated in a four team no-check league at the Ice Box, South Bend's two-surface ice rink.  We have participated in regular and summer seasons since 2000.

 In the fall of 2007 and spring of 2008 we will participate as a team in the "B" division of the South Bend Senior Hockey League at the Ice Box.

In January 2002, the team participated in their first ever senior tournament. The Notre Dame Faculty Team recorded its first win in a Senior Hockey Tournament by defeating Chicago's Cav's Cartage 2-1 in a hard-fought game on January 20, 2002. The team participated in the senior division of the Ice Breaker Tournament at South Bend's Ice Box since 2002 and has appeared twice in the championship game; however, no final victories have been recorded.
