Travel Insurance:
The University of Notre Dame and the Tantur Ecumenical Institute can assume no responsibility for a participant's medical and/or travel expenses.
Medical and emergency assistance insurance and coverage for medical evacuation, unforeseen emergency, lost bags, and trip cancellation and interruption (which covers non-refundable program and transportation costs should you have to cancel or interrupt your trip) is readily and relatively inexpensively available. We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance for this program.
It is important to sign up for travel insurance early. To be eligible for maximum benefits with most travel insurance providers you must enroll within 7-15 days of paying your trip deposit.
For your convenience, the Notre Dame Alumni Association is sharing the benefits of the partnership it has forged with Travel Insurance Services (TIS) to make its travel insurance available to travelers in this program. The Alumni Association feels TIS offers the best possible coverage, including a “cancel for any reason” option.
Every traveler has individual needs and it is important that you research the many travel insurance options available to you. You can call Travel Insurance Services at 800-937-1387 for details and coverage options or visit www.travelinsuranceservices.com/select/index.asp?pcn=32165, the TIS Notre Dame program website. Another source for an excellent array of travel insurance information and coverage options is TripInsuranceStore.com at 1-888-407-3854 or www.TripInsuranceStore.com.
It is wise to check with your medical insurance provider to determine if you are covered outside the United States. Medicare and some medical insurance providers do not provide coverage outside the United States.
