IEEE
CAS Workshop on Wireless Communications and Networking
August
9-10, 2001
at
University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana
|

The realization
of high-capacity, high-performance wireless communication networks
and appliances requires ever more sophisticated RF and signal processing
circuits and systems. These include multiband RF chips; "software
radio" circuits capable of emulating a wide range of modulation
formats, filter characteristics, network protocols and control functions;
complex but low-powered signal detection circuits for single and
multiple users; and integrated antennas. This workshop is the fourth
in the series of the IEEE CAS Workshop on Emerging Technologies
that started in Lucerne, Switzerland in June 1998. It is intended
to bring together experts in wireless communication networks, systems,
and component circuits and devices, to identify emerging designs
and techniques that will make possible the ubiquitous wireless communication
networks and appliances of the future. This workshop will be run
in a single-session format featuring oral presentation by invited
speakers and contributed papers presented in poster sessions. The
workshop also features two keynote speakers, Dr. Jerry Foschini
of Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, Inc., and Dr. Steve
Weinstein of NEC-USA.
The poster sessions
will provide an excellent forum for in-depth discussions with researchers
in a relaxed setting, wines, cheese, and soft drinks will be served
during poster sessions. Papers are solicited for presentation in
the poster session in the following topics:
1. Low power
devices and circuits.
2. VLSI for wireless communications
3. RF devices and circuits.
4. Software radio
5. Signal processing for communications.
6. Multiuser detection
7. Multiple antenna technologies
8. Communication networks.
