| Article I. |
Name:
This organization shall be named «Economica»
. |
| Article II. |
Purpose:
Economica shall act as a forum for student opinion, a mechanism for the enactment of discussed initiatives and to foster social, institutional, and intellectual links with the Notre Dame Department of Economics faculty, graduate students in other departme
nts, graduates from other universities, and research organizations. |
| Article III. |
Membership:
Membership is open to any currently enrolled student of the Economics Department of Notre Dame. |
| Article IV. |
Officers:
| §1. |
President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer shall be the officers of Economica. |
| §2. |
The duties of the President shall be to convene and preside over the meetings and to supervise all Economica activities. |
| §3. |
The duties of the Vice President shall be to act in the President's behalf in his or her absence, to advise members of Economica, and to assign library carrels. |
| §4. |
The duties of the Secretary shall be to take the minutes of each meeting and to seek other relevant departmental and graduate information to disseminate to Economica members. |
| §5. |
The duties of the Treasurer may be combined with those of the Secretary. The Treasurer shall manage the Economica budget, appeal for funding of Economica and its activities and to supervise the reimbursement of members of authorized expenditures on be
half of Economica. Both the President and Vice President must authorize expenditures made over $25.00. |
| §6. |
The President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasure constitute the executive branch which may meet separately from Economica as it sees fit. |
| §7. |
Representatives to GSU an other ad hoc committees, as officers, must be elected by a simple majority (50% +1 ) of all members who cast a vote. At least 66% of all members must cast a vote to deem the election valid
. |
| §8. |
The duties of the representatives shall be to attend extra-Economica meetings such as GSU, departmental committees, et cetera, and to report and advise Economica members either through writing or verbally at the next Economica meeting. |
| §9. |
Terms of all officers shall be limited to a maximum term of two years. |
| §10. |
No member of Economica may hold multiple offices. Secretary/Treasurer may be combined to form one office, but this officer may not hold another office. Each office and representative position must be voted upon once a year, even if there is only one
person running |

Article V. |
Election and Appointment of Officers and Representatives:
| §1. |
Only Economica members are eligible for office. |
| §2. |
Annual elections shell be held after January 15th and before March 1st for all officers and representative posts. |
| §3. |
Election is to be accomplished through a mail ballot, votes cast for one representative for officer for each position, and votes registered with the department of Economics Secretary. Each ballot is to be sealed in an envelope and placed in a locked b
allot box. Under no conditions should that ballot box be opened until votes are ready to be counted. The election should last two (2) days. Each member of Economica should receive only one ballot and may vote only once. |

Winners will be posted the same day as the votes are counted. |

Article VI. |
Impeachment:
| §1. |
An elected officer or representative may be removed from office by two-thirds vote of Economica members. |
| §2. |
A non-elected officer/representative may be removed by a two-thirds vote of Economica members |
|
Article VII. |
Meetings:
| §1. |
Economica shall meet at least once a month and more often when necessary |
| §2. |
Meetings shall be open to Economica and departmental members as well as others from the Notre Dame community. |
| §3. |
Economica may meet in a closed session, at which time only Economica members may be present. |
| §4. |
The agenda for Economica meetings will be decided by the President. Request for time on the agenda must be honored by the President. The executive committee has the power to change the agenda. |
| §5. |
Robert's Rules of Order will be followed when there is a question on procedure. |
| §6. |
Official meetings shall last no longer than two hours unless a more lengthy one is approved by its members. |

Article VIII. |
Amendment:
An amendment to this constitution may be made at any Economica meeting. A precise reading of the suggested amendment must be made during the meeting, submitted in writing to the Secretary, and posted at the Economics department office. A second to the ame
ndment will allow discussion. Votes on the amendment will be cast at the following meeting. Publicizing this special vote is the duty of the President. If the vote receives a two-third majority of those present, it is to be incorporated into the constitut
ion as read. |
