The Keough-Notre Dame Centre was endowed by Donald R. Keough.
Donald R. Keough is chairman of the board of Allen & Company Incorporated, a New York investment banking firm. He was elected president, chief operating officer and a director of the Coca-Cola Company in 1981. Mr. Keough retired as president, chief operating officer and a director of the Coca-Cola Company in April 1993 and he was then appointed advisor to the board. Mr. Keough currently serves on the boards of the H.J. Heinz Company, The Washington Post Company, USA Networks Inc. and McDonald's Corporation and is chairman of Excalibur Technologies.
He is immediate past chairman of the University Board of Trustees and is a trustee of several other educational institutions. He also serves on the boards of many national charitable and civic organizations. He received Notre Dame's Laetare Medal in May, 1993. The Keough Institute for Irish Studies and the Keough-Notre Dame Centre in Dublin are both named in his honor.
