CAREER EXPERIENCE

My career experience in the Information Technology industry spans 20 years, and began during my early years in college where I worked as an applications developer for both the Payroll office and the Controller's office.  Upon graduation I worked for a private CPA firm where I developed specialized software systems using dBase for clients' information-processing needs.  After two years I was hired by a local computer retail enterprise, where I became the principal technical resource.  I analyzed customer needs and provided technical consultation during all phases of system planning, installation, training, and operation.  After a successful four years with this enterprise, I made a change to the Information Technologies world of higher education.

I have been privileged to be a member of the Information Technologies teams for both the University of Arizona and the University of Notre Dame, where I am currently the Director for Information Security.

HOBBIES

Although my work life is built around computers and information technology, I love a quiet afternoon or evening working on some programming project.

The area where I live has some great places to walk, bike, and boat.  Although Lake Michigan is only a short drive away I much prefer the peace and quiet of the smaller lakes and rivers, where only canoes, paddle boats, row boats, and trolling motors are allowed.

When I get the chance to get away on a road trip, any direction will do.  Adventure and going someplace I've never been is my idea of a real getaway.  A trip through Minnesota in a raging blizzard might be the only thing I wouldn't do again. Of course every trip is another opportunity for me to enjoy another of my hobbies , photography.
