The reading selections for Sociology 397/398 evolve
during the course of the semester in response to the tasks in which the
research group is currently involved. Readings may be academic articles
about the research topics (either theoretical or empirical), original materials
written by participants about the protest and riot events as they were
occurring, government documents such as hearing transcripts and official
reports, journalistic accounts, editorials, or draft papers written by
members of the research team.
To provide a sense of the type and volume of material
